1954 Jaguar XK120 - Full car leather interior restoration

This Jaguar imported from America had undergone a restoration in the 1980s. The front seats had been replaced but all the other leather in the interior was the original.

The original leather had lost all its colour and sealant, but being of excellent quality and a thick hide it was in good condition for its age

The vinyl in the car, door cards and piping, gave a clue to the leathers original colour. We were able to find a piece of leather with the original colour on it, that had not been in the daylight. This was used to match the exact colour before the restoration started.

All the interior leather was chemically cleaned and prepared for recolouring, all damage was repaired.

The seats were removed from the car and all leather prepared for recolouring. Careful masking was needed on the dashboard and cockpit bolster.

Four fine layers of the leather colourant and then sealant were applied to all the leather.

The vinyl boot card was also repaired and recoloured.

It was an absolute pleasure to work on such a beautiful and historic car. I was very happy with the end result and I'm glad to say the customer was very happy too.

This car went on to win the Jaguar UK Trophy at the Concours Of Elegance at Windsor castle on 3rd Sept 2016

Testimonials

From my first email contact through to collecting the car Colin was exemplary both in his guidance and recommendation, to the excellent workmanship. I was keen to ensure the car retained its original look and feel, and Colin went out of his way to ensure the restoration was as close to the factory pantone and finish as possible - no mean feat for a 1954 car! Anyone looking for any form of leather restoration I would have no hesitation in recommending Leather Restoration. Colin is a true gentleman who will take time to guide and advise you on the 'art of the possible'. Thanks Colin you are a rare find in this overly commercial world.
